Family Sponsorship
Bring Your Loved Ones to Canada
Family reunification is a priority for the Canadian immigration system, making family sponsorship one of the fastest and most effective pathways to permanent residence.
Through this program, eligible Canadians can sponsor their spouse, partner, children, parents, or grandparents to live with them in Canada.

Spouse and Common-Law Partner Sponsorship
Eligible individuals include:
Spouse – Legally married in their country of origin and under Canadian law.
Common-law Partner – Lived together in a conjugal relationship for at least one year.
Conjugal Partner – In a committed relationship for at least 12 months, but unable to live together due to immigration barriers, religious restrictions, or marital status (e.g., divorce not possible in their home country).
Same-Sex Partners – Recognized as valid for Canadian immigration purposes under these categories.
Sponsoring Dependent Children
Must be under 22 years old and unmarried.
Children over 22 may qualify if they were financially dependent on their parents before 22 and cannot support themselves due to a mental or physical disability.
Children in sole custody of a previous spouse must still be declared in the sponsorship application.
If the dependent child has their own children, the sponsor must meet financial eligibility requirements.

Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
To sponsor your parents or grandparents, you must:
Be at least 18 years old.
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a registered Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
Demonstrate financial capacity to support them and ensure they do not require government assistance.
